The Wait is On

After 10 long months, Krista and I are waiting on the birth of daughter number 3. Krista is an absolute trooper - dealing incredibly well with the early stages of labor. We've been staring intermittently at TV and at the white board in our room. We have two names up on the board and we're trying to decide between them as we go along. I know, it's a little late to be playing the name game... but we'll know when we know. And you won't know before we do.

In the meantime, Krista is pushing hard on reflexology points trying anything to get this baby out.

More very soon, for now pray that this baby comes soon.

Back to Work ...

I'm going back to work on Monday after more than a week off. And I think I am getting the easier end of the bargain. I get to go be with adults (or as close as TV people get). Krista gets to stay at home with a newborn and a two year old. Krista's mom is still here in Houston and she's been a God-send.

It's been an amazing week. Babies take a few days to wake up and open their eyes in the new world. Kate's here now. She's always had great lungs and a healthy cry, but just this weekend I've really been able to look into her blue eyes and say hi.

She is an amazing little girl with an incredible big sister and a world championship mom.

A Wonderful Day for a Beautiful (and big) Baby

Kate Everett turned our family of three into an ecstatic family of four this afternoon at 5:25 Houston time. Clearly she used her extra week in the womb well ... she weighs in at 9 pounds 15 ounces. Krista was as surprised as anyone else.

She is a beautiful little girl with a full head of light brown/dark blond hair.

Tonight Kate is learning to sleep and Krista is trying to get some much needed rest.

Tomorrow is Riley's second birthday... a little sister is quite a present.

Thank you for all your prayers. Ours have been answered.

Worried We're Lost In Translation

As I sit, we have an hour and 20 minutes until Tuesday night is over. Not a big deal, but we were really hoping Riley would be right and we could have a little one to bring home soon. Krista is soundly sleeping (or as soundly sleeping as a woman 40 weeks+ pregnant can sleep), so I don't think it will happen.

Now the thought comes to mind, what if Riley was right and she really meant next Tuesday night. Let's hope not and let's move off that discussion for fear we get too cute.

Next date to circle - Friday March 23rd. If our Baby Kate is born then - we get two girls with the same birthday... exactly two years apart. It would be a bonus for anyone with trouble remembering dates.

From the Mouth of Riley

We've been trying to tell Riley (who turns 2 on Friday) about her new sister. She kisses Krista's belly most mornings and knows where the baby is. She's helped us get the nursery ready and we think she is excited to be a big sister.
Most days she'll tell you, "Baby Coming Soon," which from the mouth of a 2 year borders on criminally cute.
So today we again asked her when the baby is coming. We figured she'd say "soon" as she always does.
Not today.
Today we heard, "Tuesday night."
I am not certain how she learned the word Tuesday or how she knows the days of the week... but if she is right and we have a baby tomorrow night, I will ask her the lotto numbers next.

A Divine Message On Waiting

We're still waiting. We're enjoying our last days alone with Riley, but are looking forward to introducing her to her new sister.

This Sunday morning, God reminded me he always hears our prayers on our time and answers them on his. Our sermon this morning was from a guest preacher, Rev. Rufus Smith from the City of Refuge Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Krista and I are both glad we heard it.

He preached on Isiah 40:31 (those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.) Without replaying the sermon, the overall point was God is rarely early, but never late. That waiting without anger or impatience is a sign of faith, and that through that we are made stronger.

So we wait on - with the wonderful feeling that we aren't waiting alone.

We're Still Waiting

40 weeks and three days... and still no baby.Krista is holding up remarkably well. Today Krista and the two Grandmas and I went for lunch and a walk. By now we've tried it all to give the wee one the eviction notice... walking, spicy food, talking to her and on and on.So... we're thinking the chances of a St. Patrick's baby are growing dimmer.We can't wait to show you pictures of our newest Oberg.For now, here are a few of the 4 girls we have now.
